ASHA (Alliance for Sustainable and Holistic Agriculture)

ASHA is a National level platform in alliance with various sections of society engaged in taking up issues related to Food Farmer Freedom.  The organization is predominantly involved in promoting sustainable agriculture alternatives through voluntarism with a commitment to mobilizing funds. Organizing events to influence decision-making on state and national level is another important part of ASHAs engagement together with Kudumbam and other NGOs. Each four years ASHA stages a Kissan Swaraj Sameelan (Farmers Freedom Campaign)  in which all stakeholders in agriculture come together, discuss, debate and deliberate key issues and consolidate resolutions for action on the ground. ASHA provides Kudumbam with information and relevant information about current issues and alternative solutions. The network is an Indian initiative between various NGOs that are involved in the agricultural and environmental sectors. Different Governmental institutes or departments, as well as officials, have been informed about the concerns of the network. This has occasionally led to official invitations to Kudumbam and the other NGOs affiliated with ASHA to discuss agricultural issues, and the available alternatives for the future. Kudumbam benefits from being a part of ASHA to not stand alone when approaching a stakeholder or actor. The cross-learning on agriculture between Indian NGOs is an additional important part of the continued membership in the network.
