Re-greening of Villages
The Re-greening of villages is a vision for a future project in collaboration with other organizations in India that began to be developed in 2019. The overall intended objective is to re-green rural areas in Tamil Nadu that have lost forests and tree cover. The promotion of mono-cropping for several decades motivated a need for a future project to re-establish forests and to increase the tree cover in villages. It is also supposed to address the agriculture sector by promoting mixed cropping (several crops on one agriculture field). The project`s programs are currently in the planning stage. A small pilot-project in a few villages is the current plan and Kudumbam is exploring possible support and collaboration for this project. Based on the outcome, efforts will be taken to up-scale the scoop of the project in additional villages.
